And Then I Read: GREEN LANTERN 15, GREEN LANTERN NEW GUARDIANS 15

Writer Geoff Johns sure knows how to get characters into trouble. The opening spread of this comic is an amazing example. You think you’ve seen an army of foes? Try a vast, angry swarm of them! Meanwhile, back on Earth, Simon Baz is also in lots of trouble that his failing power ring is not going to help with. First he tries to track down the man whose stolen van got him into a mess with the police, and finds that man wants to kill him Then the Third Army shows up. Sheesh! The art by penciller Doug Mahnke and four inkers is wonderful, as ever.

In this title, Kyle Rayner is still attempting to master all the colors if the Lantern rainbow, here focusing on the Orange power of Avarice held by Larfleeze. Usually I find the latter’s intense selfishness entertaining, but I guess that’s wearing a little thin. Actually the entire idea of this storyline seems to be dragging out too long. Some of the Third Army are showing up, finally, pointing toward a resolution.

Both books are recommended, GLNG only mildly.
