KLEIN LETTERING ARCHIVES

From beginning freelance work in 1977 through the end of 2011 I've lettered over 58,000 pages of comics, as well as over 5,400 covers and designed over 845 logos. Boy, does it make me tired thinking about that! And that doesn't count all the other miscellaneous work or the many things I did on staff at DC from 1977 to 1987.

Below are lots of tedious-to-read lists of the work I've done as a freelancer, with at least one image on most pages. In the first five years or so (and occasionally later) my records are sometimes incomplete. Those items are listed in the INCOMPLETE RECORDS ARCHIVE. From 1977-1980 I listed work in the year it was published. Around June, 1980 I started listing it in the year done, so 1980 entries are larger than usual. Only the very first lettering job was in a 1977 cover-dated book: "Star Bores" a Star Wars parody in SICK Magazine #118, for which I was hired by the artist, Dave Manak. Thanks, Dave! Note that, while on staff at DC from 1977 to 1987 I wasn't supposed to be lettering for other comics companies, but was allowed to work for magazines like HEAVY METAL and SICK, as they weren't considered competition by DC. A few exceptions were made, with permission.

Some long stories and graphic novels, particularly from 1998 on, were often worked on in more than one year. I list them in the year they were begun or finished to avoid multiple listings.
