And Then I Read: BLACKEST NIGHT 4

I realize I’m not the target audience for this book, and I probably wouldn’t be reading it if it didn’t revolve around the Green Lanterns. I didn’t find much in this issue that moved or thrilled me. More zombie super-heroes, ever increasing in power against the good guys, who seem unable to do much more than retreat, regroup, try to battle them, and fail again. There are character moments amid the carnage, but brief ones that try to embue these fighting action figures with humanity in shorthand. If you know the characters it sort of works, I suppose, if you don’t, it’s not going to mean much. More big trouble shows up on Earth at the end. The story arc is still sliding downward, no up in sight. Mildly recommended if you like this sort of thing.
