And Then I Read: GREEN LANTERN 4 & 5

Writer Geoff Johns seems to enjoy writing Sinestro, and why not? He’s long been one of the most interesting characters in the Green Lantern mythos. Geoff seems to have picked up a bit of his Sinestro style from the GL film, or at least that’s how it sounds in my head, I hear the actor from that speaking the character’s dialogue, and it works well. In this storyline Hal Jordan is something of a sidekick, but of course one with lots of history. The two are on Sinestro’s homeworld Korugar trying to dismantle the Yellow Lantern Corps Sinestro set up there, which has run amok and greatly abused their power over ordinary citizens. The odds are high against them, and both end up in jail, but there things take some interesting turns.

The art by Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy is excellent: detailed and realistic almost to a Brian Bolland level, yet full of explosive action where that’s required. Great storytelling. Well done.

Recommended.
