Today is our wedding anniversary. Ellen’s sister and her family have been visiting for the past week, and Ellen’s been going to the beach with them every day (I managed to get there for a few hours on two days). But they left early this morning to beat the heat and the traffic on their three hour trip home to way-north Jersey, leaving us the afternoon free.
We don’t usually do much celebrating, but it was a beautiful day, and we wanted to get out somewhere and enjoy it, so we went a short way south to Leaming’s Run Gardens, a large property of local historical note landscaped with very nice gardens, both annuals and perennials. We enjoyed walking through them again, it’s been a few years since we were there.
There were many hummingbirds, like this female feeding on Red Salvia, lots of butterflies, and in their ponds, some painted turtles and frogs. A very pleasant way to spend a few hours.
Later we drove to North Wildwood and briefly visited another fine garden at the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse. Then we went for a walk on the Wildwood boardwalk, and had dinner nearby at Ravioli House. It was fine, but the best part was the fresh cannoli we brought home to eat this evening. Yum!
Hard to believe it’s been eighteen years. They’ve been terrific ones. Love you, Sweetie.
That’s a fantastic shot of the hummingbird. Congratulations on your anniversary.
Happy Anniversary!!
