ABC COLLECTED EDITIONS COVERS The overall plan for the ABC hardcover editions was to have the design of each book look like a novel rather than a comic, with the logo and creators' names in large type surrounding a central vignette on the front cover. The vignettes would each have a defining shape: triangular for Tom Strong, circular for Promethea, rectangular for Top 10 and diamond-shaped for Tomorrow Stories. The background of each would be a pattern of ABC star symbols. Color schemes of each cover would tie into the colors of the vignette art. I'm happy with the way this plan worked out. An additional element helping to unify the line was that the art on each was pencilled by each series artist, then painted by José Villarrubia (except on Tomorrow Stories, where Kevin Nowlan did art and color). José was great to work with, and always provided a finished piece that we were all pleased with. For the trade paperback editions, the front cover art filled the whole cover, and the design was more typical of comics collections.
