OTHER ABC COVER DESIGNS Here are some of my favorite ABC cover designs beyond the titles listed in the sidebar topics at right. © America's Best Comics One of Rick Veitch's finest pieces of art is this striking film noir image of Greyshirt created for the trade paperback collection of the miniseries GREYSHIRT: INDIGO SUNSET, written by Rick, with most of the art by him as well as a roster of guest artists. My one challenge here was getting an okay on putting the title at the bottom. Once that was cleared, the rest was simple. © America's Best Comics This spinoff from Tom Strong featured Golden Age comics characters revived from a long "sleep" and dealing with present day threats. The covers all have an art deco feel, thanks to artist Yanick Paquette, and I tried to emulate that in the logo and type designs. © America's Best Comics Another spinoff from Tom Strong, this series featured wonderful covers by Arthur Adams. This one highlights the character he also drew inside the books, Jonni Future. With art like this, I usually just tried to stay out of the way! © America's Best Comics Art Adams is known for his gorilla covers, so this one was a natural. Above is the way I turned in the cover. Later the editor and artist decided to give it a yellow background instead of the black one shown here. I think both work okay, but I prefer this original version.
